BERNARD “BERNIE” RAAB
Bernard “Bernie” Raab, 68, of Valley Grove, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Wheeling Hospital with his wife by his side. He was a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather.
He was born October 17, 1955, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Leo H. Jr. and Clara Marie Raab.
Bernie was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church.
He found joy spending countless hours fishing, hunting, and tending to his farm. He loved racing stock cars on the dirt track and riding his trike.
On March 1, 1980 Bernie married Marjorie “Margie” Wilson Raab, who survives. Bernie built the home they lived in for 44 years from the ground up,where they raised their four children. They worked side by side doing everything together as a family. They enjoyed tending to the garden, doing hay, and taking care of the animals.
Also surviving, his children, Thomas (Amanda) Raab, Lisa Raab, Daniel (Candice) Raab, and Brady Raab, two sisters, Leeann (Kenneth) Merinar and Patricia (Mark) Neiman,and his grandsons, James, Jackson, Noah, and Luke Raab, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Bernie’s life at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 154 Kruger Street, on Thursday, June 27th. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8pm.
Visitation will follow again on Friday morning from 9:30 until 10:30am.
Funeral Mass will take place on June 28th at 11:00 am at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, followed by interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Bernie’s presence in the lives of his family and friends will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light to those who knew and loved him.
