HOWARD STANSBERRY

Howard “Strawberry” Glen Stansberry, age 80, of New Martinsville, WV, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, in Wheeling Hospital Wheeling, WV.

He was born January 8, 1944 in Silver Hill, WV, a son of the late Vern and Bessie M. Long Stansberry.

He was a retired hot metal truck driver for the former Ormet Corp., Hannibal, OH; funeral assistant for the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory; a member of the New Martinsville United Methodist Church; Moose Lodge 931, New Martinsville; Wetzel Masonic Lodge 39, New Martinsville; Nemesis Shriners, Parkersburg, WV; Tyler County Shrine Club; Order of the Eastern Star 50, New Martinsville, WV; Mountain State Commander 14; Knights of Templar, Royal Arch Mason 2; and former member of Grandview Volunteer Fire Dept.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Maxwell Stansberry; second wife, Sonja Marlene Stansberry; and a sister, Shirley A. Parker.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Stansberry; stepchildren, Jason (Jeni) Moffitt and Jessica (Jason) Wyke; four step- grandchildren, Logan Moffitt, Rydge Moffitt, Breyn and Kailyn Pallisco; two nieces, Stephanie (Chris) Knott and Michelle (Mark) Mallen; nephew, Doug (Christine) Parker; great- niece and -nephew, Hannah Parker and Walker Knott; pet cats, Mikey and Molly; and dog, Abby.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Grisell Funeral Home, 751 Third St., New Martinsville, WV, where services will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Rector officiating. Order of Eastern Star service will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Jolliffe Cemetery, Silver Hill, WV.
