LA VERA KELLEY
								La Vera Lena Schlosser Kelley, born on February 22, 1944, in Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She was 80 years old.
La Vera had a profound and lasting impact on the field of nursing and the countless lives she touched throughout her distinguished career. She dedicated herself to her work at Wheeling Hospital, Pardee Hospital, and The Brian Center, and later shared her extensive knowledge and passion by teaching medical classes at Blue Ridge Community College. Her dedication to nursing was not just a profession but a heartfelt calling that resonated deeply throughout her life.
Beyond her professional achievements, La Vera found joy and fulfillment in volunteering and spending cherished moments with family and friends. Her generosity, compassion, and unwavering spirit were evident in all facets of her life.
La Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, James A. Kelley, Sr.; father, Harold Schlosser; mother, Vera Herd Schlosser; sister, Eva Smith; and brother, David Schlosser.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Janeen Whiteside (David) of Hendersonville and Jeanette Willis (Greg) of Hendersonville; her devoted sons, James Kelley Jr. of Bridgeport, Ohio, and Jeffery Kelley of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and her cherished grandchildren, Alexis Whiteside, Cameron Harris, Braydon Harris, and Brinlee Willis. She also leaves behind her brother, Harold Schlosser of Virginia Beach, VA, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and her special companion, Tom Rosenbaum.
The family will receive friends during visitation on Sunday, June 30th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Church Street Funeral & Cremation. Another visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, from 10:00 am to 10:50 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Church Street Funeral & Cremation. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.
La Vera Lena Schlosser Kelley will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to nursing, her selfless volunteerism, and the love and warmth she shared with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
