It is with deep sorrow and uplifting remembrance that we announce the passing of David Wayne Smith, known lovingly to all as Dave, on July 27, 2024, in Wheeling, WV. Born in San Antonio, TX, on April 13, 1956, Dave lived a life that radiated warmth, love, and an infectious joy.
Dave excelled as a locksmith, showcasing his incredible skills and dedication to his craft. More importantly, he was a beacon of friendship, always willing to lend a hand or share a smile. To know him was to experience genuine camaraderie; he was proud to be a friend to everyone.
In his personal life, Dave was the most incredible husband and father, treasured by his family and adored by his friends. His infectious smile could light up any room and will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have experienced his kindness.
Dave is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Jay Smith. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Kera Smith (Bryan); his devoted mother, Margaret Ann Smith; his beloved daughter and best friend, Kylea (Justin) Wilson; his brothers, Allen (Barbara) Smith and Brian Smith; and his sister, Deborah Caltrider. Dave's family also includes his sisters-in-law, Erin Bryan-Bell and Lori Merritt, and his brothers-in-law, Carson and Callen Bryan. Additionally, he leaves behind special loved ones: Uncle Lee Smith, Aunt Kay Rosa, and Aunt JoAnn Bonenberger, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dave's loyal furry companions, Asher, Zucca, and Noli, also feel the profound loss of his presence.
Services for Dave will be held privately for the family, with an interment to take place at Greenwood Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for all who knew & loved Dave.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, let us be inspired by the legacy he leaves behind--a legacy of love, unbreakable bonds, and endless generosity.
Rest in peace, Dave. Your incredible smile and unwavering kindness will never be forgotten.
