Karen Carol Meighen (Nee Burson) of Cocoa Beach, FL, and formerly of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Hospice Care on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the age of 81, surrounded by her family.
She was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on October 13, 1942, the daughter of Clyde and Hannah Burson (Nee McGinnis).
Karen was a graduate of Triadelphia High School in Wheeling. She then went on to earn her LPN Certification from Ball Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Muncie, Indiana and her ADN – RN from Calhoun College in Decatur, Alabama. Karen was very proud of her career in nursing, working in the ED at Ball Memorial in Muncie, ICUs at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama and Health First Holmes in Melbourne, FL and RN Case Management Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Michael G. Meighen of Cocoa Beach, FL ; Daughter Terri (Jeff) Fuller, of Titusville, FL; Son Mark Meighen, of Cocoa Beach, FL; Daughter Sandy Meighen, of Merritt Island, FL; Granddaughter Holly Laudermilt, of Merritt Island, FL; Grandson Wesley Laudermilt, of Merritt Island, FL; Grandson Mitchell Meighen, of Madison, AL; Sister Nancy Crnich, of Greensboro, NC; Brother Skip Burson, of Dandridge, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
Karen cherished her daughters, son, grandchildren, and family. She was a lifelong Christian and had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach, FL.
Karen loved to play golf at the Cocoa Beach Country Club Golf Course, kayak on the Banana River, she loved the ocean and the sandy beach, and loved her Banana River home in Cocoa Beach.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 at Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling, West Virginia.
