Elizabeth Theresa "Betty" Bucon, 95, of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at her home.
Betty was born January 4, 1929, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Saunders) Wilhelm. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. Betty volunteered at the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Bucon; two sisters, Helen A. Kirksey and Rosemary Villanova; a brother, William Wilhelm; and two brothers-in-law, Paul J. Otte and Vincent Villanova. She is survived by her two sons, A.J. Bucon and Jim Bucon, and his wife, Lisa, both of Wheeling; a sister, Lucille Otte of Wheeling; three grandchildren, Robert Hodges and his wife, Emily, of Elm City, NC, Christopher Bucon and his wife, Sami of Wheeling, and Emily Lamberti and her husband, Michael, of Hartsville, SC; four great-grandchildren, Justin and Kaylee Hodges, Colby Bucon, and Enzo Lamberti; and several nieces & nephews.
Friends will be received from 1-3 & 5-7 pm, Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum.
