Mr. Glenn French, son of the late Benjamin Norwood Glenn French and Jessie May French, was born at home on August 16, 1938 in Deep Run, Martins Ferry, Ohio.
He was united in loving marriage to Sandra Rose Shafer on August 14, 1965.
His beloved wife preceded him in death on September 18, 2002. Glennie, (ONEY) was a lifelong Ironworker, Retired. He was a member of the Ironworkers local 549 in Wheeling WV for 65 years.
Glennie was known for his courage, strength and tenacious spirit. His love for his family rose above all else. His passion for woodworking spanned decades and many a day would find him in his favorite spot, "Papa's workshop."
His amazing spirit departed this life surrounded by loved ones Friday, August 16, 2024 at the EORH hospital in Martins Ferry Ohio.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brothers Patrick French and William French.
His wonderful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Daughter, Jenine A Zackey and her husband the late Lou Zackey, grandsons Shawn and Ian. Great-grandsons John and Robert, Son Glenn R French, granddaughters Melanie, Monica, Monique, Mia and Micah, 5-great-grandchildren, 4 Great-great-grandchildren, Daughter, Rebecca L French and George Snyder, grandchildren Lace and George, Great-Grandson Landon, Daughter Colleen D Hornbeck and Husband Craig Hornbeck, Granddaughter Jesse, Daughter, Shannon L French, Granddaughter Elizabeth, Great-grandsons Noah and Elias. He will truly be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Borkoski's in Tiltonsville Ohio. Visitation Thursday August 22nd from 3-7 pm. Funeral held Friday August 23rd at noon with graveside burial following at the Holly Memorial Gardens. On line condolences may be offered at www.borkoskifuneralhomes.com.
