NORMA GRIFFITH

Norma V. Griffith, 101, of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024. She was born on August 23, 1922 and lived a full and blessed life dedicated to her family, faith, and community.

Norma was a devoted homemaker, where she fostered a loving and nurturing environment for her family. She found joy in needlepoint, gardening and canning vegetables, activities that brought beauty and sustenance to her home.

Norma was an active and cherished member of several community organizations, including St. Michael's Christian Mothers, Bello Vedere Homemakers, and the Oglebay Park Garden Center. Her commitment to these organizations reflected her deep sense of community and service.

Norma was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Vincent and Celestina (Borre') Vercellotti; her cherished husband, John E. Griffith; her loving daughter, Joann Griffith Klempa; infant son, Joseph Griffith; brother, John Vercellotti; sisters, Constance Kent, Dorothy Griffith, and Dena Stowell; and great-grandson, John Patrick Striplin- Griffith.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia (Brian) Damant and Beverly Griffith; sons, John Dennis (Beth) Griffith and Dr. Edward (Robin) Griffith; son-in-law, Mark Klempa; granddaughters, Sarah Griffith, Jacquelyn Griffith, and Nicole Garris; grandsons, David Damant, Dan (Megan Striplin) Griffith, and Nicholas Griffith; great-granddaughter, Oona Louise Striplin-Griffith; and several nieces and nephews. Norma's legacy of love and warmth will be cherished by all who knew her.

The family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to the Amedisys Hospice staff for their compassionate care, especially Dakotah.

Friends and family will gather to honor Norma's life on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 4-8 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:30 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 9, at 11 am at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Chapel Hill Rd., Triadelphia, WV, with Rev. Carlos L. Melocoton, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Norma to a charity of your choice.
