Patricia (Teena) Rider Farrell passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, surrounded by friends and family.
Originally from Wheeling, West Virginia, Teena lived in Parkersburg, West Virginia where she taught elementary school for many years before moving to Hilton Head, South Carolina in 1994. Teena was a sales executive at Seacoast Insurance for over 20 years. She retired from the agency in 2019 to take care of her ill husband.
She was active in the Zonta Club of Hilton Head and volunteered at the Hilton Head Humane Society. Teena enjoyed gardening, singing, playing the piano, and walks with her dog Sadie. She was an amazing caregiver to her husband of 36 years, Patrick J. Farrell, who proceeded her in death as well as her parents Warren H. and Virginia D. Rider and niece Mary Lou Hague. She survived by her best friend and companion John Sarno, of Hilton Head; her two sisters, Liza Adams (Richard) of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Carolyn Hardle of Ramsey, Minnesota; her nieces, Cindy Bullock (Jason) of Hilton Head and their children Marielle and Caroline, Diane Kulp (Randy)of Savannah, Georgia and their children Elizabeth and Heath, Kate Chapman (Perry) of Anoka, Minnesota and their children Peyton and Kinsley; and nephew Chase Johnson (Michelle) of Minnesota and their children Kennedy, Kia, Becca, and Leanne. Additionally, she has stepdaughters, Kelly Wiseman (Todd) of Vienna, West Virginia, their children Jordan, Jillie and Evan, Tracy Farson (David) from Jacksonville, Florida, and their children Molly, Patrick, and Will, Shannon Burghart of Greensboro, NC and her children Mason and Jax; and a stepson Tim Farrell of Nashville, Tennessee and his child Maddie.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Francis by the Sea Catholic Church on Hilton Head on August 14th at 10:00 am. A reception will be held immediately following at the South Carolina Yacht Club in Windmill Harbor.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Teena Farrell Training and Socialization Fund at Hilton Head Humane Society (PO Box 21790, Hilton Head, SC 29925) that helps make it easier to adopt shelter dogs or Hospice Care of the Lowcountry. Islandfuneralhome.com
