Rodney Keith McConnell, 74, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024. He was born on June 17, 1950, son of the late Robert Ellsworth McConnell and Edwina Turner McConnell, also of Wheeling, WV.
Rodney was a graduate of Warwood High School class of 1968. He worked at Valley Camp Coal Mine for 11 years and Concrete Fabricators in Wheeling, WV for 33 years until retirement. He had a passion for hunting and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ellsworth McConnell, his mother, Edwina Turner McConnell, and his infant brother, Craig S. McConnell.
Rodney is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nedra Charlene McConnell, his son, Craig Alan McConnell (Lavina McConnell), daughter, Amy Lynn Strittmatter (Brent Strittmatter), grand- children, Christian McConnell (Karlee McConnell), Hunter McConnell, Jordan Strittmatter, Sierra Strittmatter, 6 great grandchildren, Lily McConnell, Remington McConnell, Jude Debolt, Ozzy Debolt, Cillian Flanegin, and Calayah Burkhalter. Also survived by his sister, Shelly Murray (William Murray), brothers, Barry McConnell (Penny McConnell), Shawn McConnell lolp(Marsha McConnell). And many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received at Kepner Funeral Home - Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-277-2722) on Saturday, August 24, 2024, 2 pm - 4 pm and 6 pm - 8 pm and again on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm.
Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens.
