KARL KOSEM SR.

Together Again

Karl Lee Kosem, Sr., 87, of Triadelphia, WV, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at his home.

He was born August 7, 1937, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Frank Joseph Kosem, Sr. and Mary Ann Matos Kosem.

Karl was a coalminer from Valley Camp Coal Company #3, and a retired coalminer from Peabody Coal Company. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the 82 Airborne division.

He loved sharing memories of Wheeling on his Facebook page and playing his accordion. He enjoyed spending time with his family and riding around town in his 1944 Willy Jeep, 1953 Army Truck, and antique cars. He was proud of his log hunting cabin that he built with his grandson, Kevin, Jr.

In addition to his parents, Karl is finally united with his wife of 65 years, Carol Jean Nelson Kosem; brother, Frank J. Kosem, Jr.; son-in-law, George S. Cain; and great-grandson, Kameron Kosem, Jr.

Karl is survived by his daughter, Karla S. Cain of Grayson, KY and three sons, Karl L. (Debbie) Kosem, Jr. of Valley Grove, WV, Kevin S. (Brenda) Kosem of Valley Grove, WV & Kristofar (Rhonda) Kosem of Vass, NC; ten grandchildren, Christine (Brandon) Muldrew, Tyler (Alia) Cain, Kendra (Joseph) Preast, Kris (Ashley) Kosem, Kevin Kosem, Jr., Nico (Heather) Kosem, Kameron (Patricia) Kosem, Kacey (Jeff) Wesolowski, Seth (Lindsey) Kosem & Greg (Gretchen) Cain; great-grand children, Kohlton & Kinley Muldrew, Levi, Milo & Noel Preast, Kammi Kosem, Karoline & Nora Cain, Lilly & Nicholas Porter, Trevor Cain, Cayden Dyer, Karlee & Kannon Kosem, Naomi & Gracelynn Kosem, and Ella Kosem; and his dog, Xena.

The family will be having a private memorial service. Arrangements made by Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311).
