MARK ZIEN

Mark Walter Zien, 66, of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, at Wheeling Hospital Continuous Care Center. Born on September 24, 1958, in Wheeling, WV, Mark lived a life full of love, joy, and passion.

Mark was known for his love of pizza and his unbridled enthusiasm for holidays, with Halloween being his absolute favorite. He had a deep passion for all things Snoopy, which brought him endless joy and comfort. His love for music, especially hard rock, was a testament to his vibrant and dynamic personality.

For 35 years, Mark was a cherished member of The Sunshine Club, where he made lasting friendships and contributed to the community in countless ways. Additionally, he participated in the Special Olympics, where he particularly enjoyed swimming, demonstrating his dedication and spirited nature.

He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Dolores "Bibi" (Kasunic) Zien; his brother, Luke Michael Zien; and his beloved dog, Charlie. He is survived by his father, Walter Zien; close family friend, Toni Shia; and several cousins who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Carlos L. Melocoton, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will take place afterwards at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
