Donald Martin Brafford, 92, of Wheeling, WV died on Thursday, October 3, 2024 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born January 3, 1932 in Mingo Junction, OH, son of the late Claude and Hazel (Wright) Brafford Manbeck. He was a third-generation member of Warwood United Methodist Church and a US Army veteran who served in the Korean conflict. Don was a 1950 graduate of Warwood High School and earned his bachelor's degree at Tri-State University.
He was also a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Osiris Shrine, and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. Don was a licensed civil engineer who was a member of the American Society of Professional Engineers and the WV Society of Professional Engineers.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Ann (Ackerman) Brafford. Surviving are his daughters, Ellen McCroskey and her husband Douglas, and children Rachael and Travis (Elizabeth) Valentine; and Rebecca Hamilton and her husband, Doug, and daughters Tate (Ben) Bruns and Abigail (Joel) Carner; and great-grandchildren, Rip Martin Valentine and Riley Jean Bruns.
Friends will be received on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 1 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Ave., Wheeling (304-277- 2722). Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling, WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project Hope, 1500 Chapline St., Room 106, Wheeling or Street MOMs, 71 Linwood Avenue, Wheeling or bring a donation of clothing for the homeless to the visitation.
