JANET “JAN” PEST
Janet Sue “Jan” (Frishette) Pest, born on October 23, 1951, in Charleston, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, at WVU Wheeling Medical Park, just shy of her 73rd birthday.
Jan began her distinguished career as a deputy clerk of Marshall County and dedicated her life to public service, culminating in her role as the esteemed Marshall County Clerk. Her commitment to her community was further exemplified through her leadership as the Past President of the West Virginia Association of Counties and her contributions as a board member of both the Marshall County Federal Credit Union and Grand Vue Park.
A lover of literature and the calming shores, Jan found great joy in reading and cherished her many visits to the beach.
Her radiant spirit and warm heart were felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Claude W. Frishette and Edith Kathaline (Thaxton) Frishette; and her brother Bill Frishette.
Jan’s legacy is carried on by her devoted husband of 42 years, Phillip Pest; and her loving children, daughter, Megan (Jon) Gossett, son, Trevor (Bretta) Hyre, and daughter, Shannen (Donnie) Glover. She was a cherished “Grammy” to Ryan and Aubrey Gossett, Annabella, Tre, Ace and Charlie Hyre, and Fisher Glover.
Jan is also survived by her sister, Judy Wright, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation and all services will be private. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wheeling Health Right on Jan’s behalf in C/O www.tmcfunding.com.
The family appreciates the love and support of extended family and friends during this difficult time.
