Lomadean Brown Burney Nevels, age 76, was called to the Lord on September 29, 2024.
Loma was born in Brownsville, TX to Lois Brown. She then moved to Kingsville, TX where she grew up. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lois Brown; a sister, Geraldine Brown; and a brother, Jack Butler.
Loma was a former member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Weirton, WV, and a current member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Wheeling, WV. She is a retired assistant supervisor of the City of Wheeling Water Department and belonged to various organizations including the NAACP, Wheeling Human Rights Commission, Women's Club and Wheeling Housing Authority. Loma inspired many with her speeches.
Loma is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Rev. Willie Nevels; 5 stepdaughters, Stephanie (Gregory) Stradwick, Janice (Harold) Martin, Teresa Pratt, Willene (William) Redman, and Renee Wells; 1 stepson, Anthony (Spike) Wells; and a host of grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church, 105 12th Street, Wheeling, WV 26003 with Pastor Marshall Davis and Pastor Rudy McAllister officiating. Interment will follow at Stone Church Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
