LORETTA SLOVEKOSKY
Loretta Jean Slovekosky, 79 of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully with her husband by her side on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Golden Oaks Residential Board and Care in Follansbee, WV.
Born on August 11, 1945, in Wheeling, WV a daughter of the late Donald Eugene and Alice (Evans) Walker.
Loretta graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1963. She later graduated from West Liberty State College in 1967 with her Bachelors in Elementary Education. She taught in Brooke County Schools in elementary education for several years and substituted for many years. Loretta was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Wellsburg WV and a member of the West Virginians for Life, and the D.A.R. Loretta enjoyed many car rides with her husband Stanley and traveling with her family over the years. Her love was always patient, quiet, present, and sound like no other.
Loretta is survived by her devoted loving husband of 52 years, Stanley Slovekosky at home; one son Aaron Slovekosky of Wellsburg, WV; a granddaughter, Shelby Michner, three great grandchildren, Paisley, Rylan, and Layne; two brothers, Gregory and Nanci Walker of Wellsburg, WV and Donald Lee and Jan Walker Bartlett, TN and sister-in-law, Patty and David Morris of Sarasota, FL; aunt Barbara “Bridge” Bayless; several nieces and nephews, Dana and Bill Bronsord, Lee and Marie Walker, and Janea and David Burgess; and many special friends among them Sharon Conaway.
Visitation for Loretta will be held on Wednesday, October 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St. Follansbee, WV.
Additional visitation will be held on Thursday October 17th from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Wellsburg at 1803 Charles St. Wellsburg WV with Rev. Jared Jimenez officiating.
Inurnment will be held privately in Franklin Cemetery in Wellsburg WV.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her sister-in-law, Nanci Walker, and the staff at Golden Oaks Residential Board and Care for the care Loretta received.
