MARGARET THOMAS

Margaret “Maggie” Virginia Thomas, age 87, of Wheeling, earned her wings on October 13, 2024, and joined her loving husband, Arthur Jerry Thomas, in heaven.

Margaret was one of nine children born to Ethel and James Edwards.

Margaret was a graduate of the B. M. Spurr School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She flourished in her career and ultimately stepped away to devote her time to her four growing daughters. After her daughters were grown, she found a new “working family” at Hill’s Department Store. Oh, the stories she shared with her family and friends . . . and the friendships that she made.

Margaret loved to share stories. There is not a stranger that she met that has not heard everything about her daughters, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. Margaret was proud of their accomplishments, and everyone she encountered knew that.

Margaret is survived by four daughters: Robin Fitzsimmons (Jim) of Cameron, WV; Fawn Thomas of Wheeling, WV; Lori Dray (Rich) of Mansfield, OH; and Gerry Arabpour (Mehran) of Lima, OH. Her nine grandchildren include: Jamie Fitzsimmons of Cameron, WV; Paula Prince of Galion, OH; Mollie Neely,

A.J. Fitzsimmons (Michelle), and Timothy Fitzsimmons, all of Cameron, WV; Nicole Dray of Wheeling, WV; Mason Dray, of Virginia Beach, VA; Margaret Arabpour of Chevy Chase, MD; and Arianna Arabpour of Lima, OH. Margaret’s blessings continued with five great-grand children: Teagan Prince, Gatlin Neely,

Andie Rose Neely, Charlee Fitzsimmons, and Hudson Fitzsimmons. Judy, Sheri, Kristin, and Mirabella Seabright complete Margaret’s loving family.

Margaret is also survived by her Best Friend, Sandy Christman, and her siblings Nancy Hanson (Jim) and David Edwards; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, several of whom were dear to her.

She was preceded in death by her siblings James Edwards, Barry Edwards, Carol Hall, Cathy Gray, John Edwards, and Jeanette Winiesdorffer.

For the past three years, Margaret has been a resident at the Continue Care Center at Wheeling Hospital. There she found a family of compassionate caregivers and personnel who fondly called her Maggie. So many of these individuals touched her life in countless ways. Maggie was comforted by the care she received from Dr. Mercer and the loving staff. Thank you all for helping Maggie put on her wings.

Margaret’s family would also like to thank Dr. Dee Nazzaro for being a guiding light.

Grave-side services will be held at the convenience of the family.
