MICHELLE BLUM

Michelle Elaine Blum, 65, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Mercy Health Hospital in Youngstown, OH.

Michelle was born September 9, 1959, in Wheeling, West Virginia, the daughter of Paul D. and Marion E. Ernes Blum.

Michelle was a 1977 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. She earned bachelor's degrees in journalism and telecommunications from Kent State University in 1981, and her master's degree in history from Youngstown State University in 1984.

Michelle was an award-winning reporter for the Wheeling Intelligencer from 1985-1990 and then 1991 until 2007. After leaving the newspaper, she spent 20 years working at OVGH / WVU Medical Center in Wheeling. Michelle also enjoyed working events at the Wheeling Civic Center and The Capitol Theatre. Michelle was an avid reader and enjoyed her many years of working and attending Jamboree In The Hills.

Michelle will be remembered by her family and friends as a fiercely independent soul that was steadfast in her advocacy of justice and equality for everyone.

Surviving is her sister, Paula (Eric) Peterson of Austintown; nephews, George (Kristin) Baker of Las Vegas, NV., Paul (Lauren) Baker of Toronto, OH, Jacob (Mackenzi) Peterson of Willoughby, OH, and Luke (Kelsey) Peterson of Austintown, OH.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Lee Baker.

Services for Michelle will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman, Ohio.
