ROBERT “BOB” McDONALD JR.

He was born December 13, 1946, son of the late Robert Lee McDonald, Sr. and Ella Virginia “Ginny” North McDonald.

He was a private man with a wonderful and silly sense of humor. He loved to golf and play all types of games with his family. A proud Marine who served in Vietnam, he was quiet, serious, fiercely loyal, and loving to his family.

Bob was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church; he was always ready to help anyone with handyman duties (even if he was roped into it by Paula). He was intellectual and creative – he could fix anything (but maybe not plumbing and cars). He had many hobbies over the years including woodworking, stained glass, and oil painting. The family has many cherished pieces made by his hands.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two younger siblings, Virginia “Lynn” McDonald Bauer and Jeffrey North McDonald.

He is survived by his wonderful wife of 55 years, Paula Jean Merritt McDonald; his two beloved daughters, Carrie Lynn McDonald Cook (Brant Cook) and Laura Blanchard (Rob Blanchard); 4 adored grandchildren, Molly Rose Blanchard, Wesley Michael Cook, Julia Claire Blanchard, and Zane Robert Cook; and much loved nieces and nephews (including grands), Mark Merritt (Tara), Stephanie Bauer and Michael McDonald (Rachael).

Friends and family will be received Monday, October 14, 2024 from 10 AM until the time of memorial service at 12 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 2 Richmond Ave, Mozart, Wheeling, WV 26003.
