THOMAS GARNER

He was born December 12, 1945 in Glen Dale, the son of the late Joseph Earl and Beatrice Emma Palmer Garner.

He was a retired administrator who served as Administrative Assistant to Superintendent and Personnel Director from Marshall County Schools; also served as Vice Principal at John Marshall High School for 20 years; nine years as biology teacher at Moundsville Junior High where he also enjoyed coaching; a member of the WV Association of Secondary School Principals and NASSP where he received the Assistant Principal of the Year in 1995 from both organizations.

He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ; Marshall Union Lodge #8 AF & AM; The Scottish Rite Valley of Wheeling; Osiris Shrine; and ROJ Crt. 13, where he was a past Impresario.

Tom was an avid gardener and spent many hours in his garden; a true family man who loved his family deeply and a faithful Christian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Ferro Glusich, and Betty June (Milton) Shanley.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Jo Miller Garner; two sons, Brant Garner and Joshua Garner, both of Glen Dale; a brother, Larry Garner of Zanesville, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2pm until time of funeral service at 4pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville with Pastor Wesley Howsare officiating.

Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
