ROSALIE McNEIL

Rosalie Martha McNeil, born on November 9, 1938, in Wheeling, West Virginia, peacefully departed this life on November 9, 2024, at Wheeling Hospital, marking her 86th birthday. She grew up in center Benwood and raised her family on Wheeling Island. She was deeply cherished by her family and community.

A dedicated and hard-working individual, Rosalie devoted her career to serving as a cook for Ohio County Schools until her retirement. Her commitment to her work was matched by her deep involvement in her community and the numerous organizations she was part of. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), SOAR, the Thursday Music Club, Elm Grove Eagles, the Island Community Association, Eastern Star, TOPS, the Bunko Club with friends, and the Reunion Planning Committee for Benwood-Union High School.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Glen and Elizabeth (Gallagher) Baker, Sr.; her devoted husband, Frank R. McNeil, Sr.; her beloved son, Michael P. McNeil; her brothers, William Grandon and his wife, JoAnne, Bob Grandon, and Glen Baker, Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Peggy Baker.

Rosalie’s memory will be forever cherished by her surviving family: daughter, Kathleen McNeil (Brian Scott) of Wheeling; son, Frank R. (Connie) McNeil, Jr. of Tiltonsville, OH, daughter-in-law, Lisa McNeil of Wheeling; son, Bruce (Pam) McNeil of Bethlehem; brother, Gene Ray Baker of Wheeling; and sister-in-law, Barbara Baker. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: RJ Myers, Alana Myers, Lacy Boughan, Franki McNeil, Liam McNeil, Haley McNeil, and Brennan McNeil; and nine great-grand children, and several nieces and nephews.

Rosalie was a Methodist by faith and was known for her strong, community- oriented spirit. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and a source of immense pride and joy.

Friends will be received at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, and again on Thursday, November 14, from 10 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Good Shepherd Nursing Home for their exceptional care and compassion.
