MARY HANING
Mary Lesley Holloway Haning, 69, of Wheeling, WV, died Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at home.
She was born on September 13, 1955, daughter of the late William Warfield Holloway, Jr. and Juliette Grimes Holloway.
She retired as a teacher from Wheeling Country Day School and Mt. de Chantal Visitation Academy, both in Wheeling and was an Episcopalian by faith.
Mary was a member of The Oglebay Institute Mansion Museum Committee and past chairman of Secret Garden Tour in 2023. She loved to garden, travel and was a foodie. She also loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren and spending time in Nags Head, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her best friend and father of her children, Bink Haning in 2000; and a brother, William W. Holloway III.
She is survived by her children, Zachary Haning and Catherine “Caty” (Jason) Coleman; two grandchildren, Olivia Haning and Carter Haning; a brother, David D. (Shirlee) Holloway; several nieces and nephews, including Jessica (Greg) Zalenski, Jill Holloway and David Holloway Jr.; several cousins, including Gene (Gail) Hildreth; and special family friends, including Ryan Laffey.
At Mary’s request, there will be no visitation. Instead, celebrate Mary’s life by taking a walk, laughing, having a good meal or cocktail, hugging your family or planting a flower.
