Delbert Eugene Huffman, Jr., 47, of Wheeling, WV, died Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He is being welcomed to his eternal rest by his grandparents, Luther and Eleanor Smith and Russell and Ethel Huffman.

He was born September 26, 1977, son of Delbert Huffman, Sr. and Carol Smith Huffman.

Delbert retired from Ohio County Schools Maintenance Department and was a member of Short Creek United Methodist Church.

Dee was an avid outdoorsman and a staunch supporter of the right to bear arms. One of his greatest pleasures was teaching others gun safety, shooting techniques and hunting skills. On the first day of deer season, Dee, Delbert, Sr. and Heather would be in the hunting blind in the wee hours of dawn. The evening would be feasting on the delights of the harvest.

In addition to his devoted parents, he is survived by his beloved wife, Heather Lashley Huffman; children, Justin and Rachel Cecil of Belpre, OH and Kacy Cecil of Clarington, OH; grandson, Xiroe Cecil; goddaughter, Katy Smith; best friends, Cory (Krissy) Campanizzi and Jason Scott; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to extend their utmost thanks to the medical team, nurses and staff of West Penn Hospital for the dedicated and compassionate care they provided to Dee during his six month stay with them.

In lieu of flowers, consider donating to either the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516 or Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306, both of these charities epitomize Dee’s character and life. Dedicated to freedom, strength and fortitude in the face of adversity.

A reception will be held at the convenience of the family.
