NORMA J. LIGHTNER

Norma Jane Lightner, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Bellaire, Ohio. Born in Moundsville, West Virginia on December 11, 1926, she lived a fulfilling 98 years devoted to family, faith, and simple pleasures.

Norma was the beloved daughter of the late Kenneth C. and Philomenia (Johnson) Blake. She lived most of her life as a devoted homemaker, creating a warm and loving environment for her family.

After her husband’s retirement, Norma found joy and contentment in the quiet pastime of fishing with him, creating cherished memories by tranquil waters. She also found happiness in playing board games and doing puzzles with her family and friends, filling her home with laughter and camaraderie.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth J. Lightner; her sons, David E. and Cecil “Herk” Lightner; and her daughter, Rosemary Wible. Her legacy continues through her son, James K. Lightner, Jr., her twelve grandchildren, and her many great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to her life.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Norma on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fork Ridge Rd., Moundsville.
