PATRICK FINNEGAN

Patrick Finnegan, a beloved member of the Wheeling, WV community, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the Wheeling Hospital Continuous Care Center. Born on March 2, 1955, in Wheeling, Patrick lived a life full of warmth and joy, passing away at the age of 69.

A man with a generous spirit and an ever-present smile, Patrick brought light into the lives of all who knew him. He was a constant reminder to those around him to look for sunshine on cloudy days, find joy in everything, and cherish the company of others. His hugs and smiles will be missed by many. To Patrick, there was never a person who didn’t deserve a big hug.

Patrick’s interests were as varied as they were passionate. He enjoyed bowling on Friday nights, where his enthusiasm was infectious. He participated in every event that the Miracle League held and found immense joy in drawing, painting, and singing. Patrick was a regular attendee at Toe Tapping Tuesdays and Waterfront Wednesdays, where his presence was always warmly welcomed. Known for his sweet tooth, he never missed the opportunity to indulge in desserts, sharing his love for sweets with friends and family alike.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert D. and Marcella O. (Klug) Finnegan. Patrick is survived by his dear sister, Sheila (Kevin) McCormick of Wheeling, WV, and his brother, Joseph (Terri) Finnegan of Richmond, VA. He also leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Patrick’s life at services to be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 3-6 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV. A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass with Final Commendation will follow at the funeral home at 6 pm with Fr. Joseph Wiley as celebrant. Private interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
