LILY SNIDER
Lily Ann (Gellner) Snider, 86, of Wheeling, WV peacefully passed away at Liza’s Place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 after a brief illness.
Born in Wheeling, WV on November 8, 1938 to Irvin William Daniel Gellner and Margaret Helen Lengacher Gellner. Lily was one of five children and attended Bridge Street School before graduating from Triadelphia High School in Wheeling, WV class of 1957. After graduation, she obtained her nursing degree at the B.M. Spurr School of Practical Nursing in Glen Dale, WV. She began her nursing career at Ohio Valley General Hospital and later transitioned to Reynolds Memorial Hospital where she retired after more than 30 years. She spent many hours before and after retirement providing private duty nursing care in the community. Lily put her heart and soul into her profession and was known for being a very hard worker and was a long-time member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, H. Donald “Don” Snider, who preceded her in death in 2009; and four siblings: Marguerite Custer, Irvin Gellner, Charles Frederick Gellner, and Ellen Hemmann.
She is survived by her four children, Debbie Callihan of Mebane, NC, Darlene (Chuck) Beecher of Union, KY, Don (Nancy) Snider of Belmont, OH, and Donna (Doug) Maden of Douglassville, PA; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick) Parento, Tiffany (Dominic) DeMarco, Heath Beecher, Schuyler (Madelyne) Callihan, Aubrey Snider, and Brooklyn Maden; and great-grandchildren, Crew and Cy Parento, Anthony and Eian DeMarco, and Everleigh Callihan. Lily always felt blessed to have the love and support of special friends Karen and Gary White as well as her Bible study group and other church friends.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) where funeral services celebrating Lily’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Shannon Blosser officiating. Interment will follow at Park View Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Wheeling, WV.
