MARGARET STEWART

She was born on December 24, 1930, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Ross and Amanda Bruny Mowder.

Margaret was a 1948 graduate of Wheeling High School and a member of the Women’s Club of Wheeling. She was a Methodist by faith.

She loved to socialize, do puzzles, go out for meals, holidays, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, bunco, and euchre. She was a child of the depression who always gave back to the community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Stewart in 1995; sister, Beatrice Downing; and brother, Harold Mowder.

Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Barbara (Fuzz) LaRue, Jacqueline (Steve) Johnston, both of Wheeling, WV; four grandchildren, Jason (Adrien) LaRue, Justin (Nicole) LaRue, Christopher (JoBeth) Johnston, Alissa (Toby) Bonitz; six great-grandchildren, Ella, Kate, Lochlyn, and Brynn LaRue, and Madelyn and William Johnston; and several nieces & nephews.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) with Pastor Ron Gamble officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Edie’s staff of 3 Center at Good Shepherd Nursing Home for the care Margaret received.
