Robert Edward "Bob" Gessler, 72, of Wheeling, WV, peacefully passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Robert was born March 15, 1952, in Wheeling, a son of the late James Joseph and Mildred Marie (Welling) Gessler.
He was Veteran of the US Air Force where he at one time served on the Air Force Honor Guard. He retired as a videographer with WTRF Television and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Mount Olivet.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Debbie (Erbacher) Gessler; a sister, Brenda Gessler Murphy; sister-in-law, Debbie Hare Erbacher; brother-in- law, Joseph D. Erbacher III. and two nephews, Scott Charlton and J.R. Gessler.
Robert is survived by his son, Frank Everett (Alyssa) Gessler and his two grandchildren, Liara Elizabeth and Joseph "J.T." Timothy of Wheeling; five brothers, James H. (Beth) Gessler of Bridgeport, OH, and Thomas L. (Kathy) Gessler, David A. (Brenda) Gessler, Brian J. (Ginny) Gessler and Kevin M. (Mari) Gessler, Sr., all of Wheeling; sisters-in-law, Linda M. (David) Wodesky of Colerain, Ohio, Kimberly (Jimmy) Rykowski of Cadiz, OH, Becky Erbacher, of Wheeling; 20 nieces and nephews; 34 great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins, and family dog Hope.
Friends will be received on Saturday February 22, 2025 from 9:30 am until the time of Memorial Mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
Robert selflessly donated his body to the WVU Gift Registry. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the WVU Gift Registry, P.O. Box 9131, Morgantown, WV 26506 or to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 690 Mt. Olivet Rd Wheeling, WV 26003
