Edward "Ted" A. Thomas, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on May 2, 1933, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Ted lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love.
Ted proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War in the United States Army. Following his military service, Ted was a Towboat Captain on the Ohio River before he dedicated the rest of his professional career to the Army Corps of Engineers, where he worked as a Resource Manager. His commitment to his work and country was matched only by his devotion to his family and faith.
An avid golfer, Ted found joy and camaraderie on the golf course at the Olgebay Golf Club, cherishing the friendships and memories made there. A lifelong Catholic, he was a devoted member of his church community and found solace and strength in his faith.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, David J. Thomas and Olwen (Davies) Thomas; his beloved wife, Margaret (Wolf) Thomas; brothers Alvin and David Thomas; and his daughter, Tracy L. Jenkins and a grandson John Wycherley.
He is survived by four of his children: Tammy (Joe) Wycherley of Wheeling, Paul (Jill) Thomas of Arizona, Edward A. Thomas Jr. of Kent, Ohio, and Theresa L. (Steve) Shaver of Buckeye, Arizona. He also leaves behind a legacy of 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, with one more expected soon, who will continue to cherish his memory and carry forward his love and values.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 14th, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Ted's life and to honor his memory.
