Mary Sue "Susie" Gehringer Anthony, 80, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at her home.
She was born on October 23, 1944, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Herman and Mildred Faulk Gehringer.
Susie was a former clerk at the EG Farm Fresh and a Lutheran by faith. She raised boxers for years, liked watching John Wayne movies, and reading anything and everything.
She loved the beach and enjoyed trips to Port St. Lucie in Florida to visit her father. She was devoted to her family and loved her sisters and missed them dearly. She also loved holidays when her family gathered.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Anthony; two sisters, Marjorie Nightengale, Jan Futey; and son-in-law, Donald Hall.
Susie is survived by her four children, Greg E. (Cathy) Thorngate, Mary Michelle Hall, Eric (Michelle) Thorngate, Justin J. Anthony; three brothers-in-law, John (Leslie) Anthony, Russell Nightengale, Wade Futey; grandchildren, Tommy (Maddison), Braxton, and Cody Thorngate, and Jonathon and Breanna Sayre; great-grandson, Tucker Thorngate; several nieces & nephews; and her two dogs, GG & Bobby Brown.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) with Pastor Debra Dague officiating. Interment will follow in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens.
