ARLENE ANGEL-SHAFFER

Arlene Angel-Shaffer passed peacefully on Thursday April 17th, 2025.

Born January 24th, 1951, in Brooklyn NY to Sam and Ethel Angel. She graduated from Erasmus Hall high school. She then attended Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY where she obtained a degree in philosophy. She then moved to Pittsburgh, PA where she attended Duquesne University, and she earned her Juris Doctorate. She was admitted into both the Ohio Bar Association and Jefferson County Bar Association in 1981. She and her husband, John Shaffer, started their law practice, Shaffer & Shaffer Law office in 1981 until they retired in 2015. Her focus in the practice was fighting for her clients’ rights and obtaining their benefits due to them. She met her husband, John, while attending law school. They were married on February 13th, 1981, and happily married for 43 years. She was known for her dry and witty sense of humor and the love of her family. She was also an avid lover of animals.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Sam & Ethel Angel.

She is survived by her children, daughter Sarah (Ed) Willison of Amsterdam, Ohio. Her sons, Daniel (Carrie) Shaffer of Columbus, Ohio. Joseph (Jessica) Shaffer of Clarksville Tennessee. She had 6 grandchildren: Eddie, Kyle and Ben Willison, Brendan “Sage”, Carsen and John Shaffer. She is also survived by her brothers Robert (Mary Chaney) Angel of Huntington WV and Edward (Rosemary Molnar) Angel of Albuquerque, NM. She also has many nieces and nephews along with other loving friends and family.

Per Arlene’s request, there will be no public funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org)
