JOHN “JACK” WALT
Together Again
John “Jack” Joseph Walt, 89, of Dallas, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born May 5, 1935, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Charles Arthur Walt, Sr. and Florence Madlyn Bleifus Walt.
Jack worked on his father’s farm for 7 years, worked at the Farm Dairy Co-Op for 7 years, and worked as a drill press operator at Blaw Knox for 7 years. He retired after 21 years as a Mechanic/Electrician for Consol Energy, Shoemaker Coal Mine. He was a life-time member of the Ohio Valley Promenades and member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
He was a master gardener, liked playing games, especially euchre, and spending time with his family. He loved playing the stock market and sharing information about the market.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Naumann Walt in 2016; brother, Charles A. Walt, Jr.; and two sisters, Christina Elizabeth Hall and Mary Alice Carroll.
Jack is survived by his three daughters, Deborah (Rickie) Walt-Snyder, Cheryl (Mike) Griffith, Mary Ann (Rod) Miller; son, John C. (Jennifer) Walt; 11 grandchildren; 4 great- grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
Friends will be received on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1:00-5:00 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311). Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 2244 Marshall Avenue, Wheeling, WV with Father Jeeson V. Stephan as celebrant.
Interment will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
