JOHN SHELTON
John “David” Shelton, known to his coworkers as “JD”, 70, of Wheeling, passed away at home on Monday, April 21, 2025.
He was born on January 26, 1955, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Thomas Russell Shelton, Jr. and Margaret M. Coleman Shelton.
David was a graduate of Linsly Military Institute in 1973, custodian for Temple Shalom and Macy’s in St. Clairsville, OH, mall, and a Catholic by faith. He was decedent of Founders of Wheeling, where he was very interested in the history, worked with his dad in the family business, Shelton Advertising, had extreme interest in Civil War history, and had a strong work ethic taking pride in all the work he did.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas R. Shelton, III.
David is survived by two sisters, Mary (Michael Donahue) Shelton, and Judith Tilman; brother, Russell Shelton; nephew, Thomas Feeney (Natalie); niece, Michelle Daves (Brent); special friends, Kathy and Rusty Jebbia; and by many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Memorial visitation will be held at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-232-2732) on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 1 pm until time of memorial service at 3 pm with Rabbi Joshua Lief officiating.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
