SCOTT SMITH

Scott Wayne Smith, born on May 15, 1966, in Wheeling, West Virginia, has taken his final bow on April 24, 2025, at the age of 58. He leaves behind a legacy as rich and varied as his interests, which ranged from the divine to the decidedly loud.
A dedicated Christian with a penchant for all things sports related, Scott loved his Mountaineers, University of Tennessee Volunteers, Crimson Tide and, of course, the Pittsburgh trio. His love for heavy metal music was legendary, and he could “name that band” with the best of them, much to the delight (or dismay) of those within earshot. When not headbanging or enjoying a game, Scott enjoyed the finer things in life, such as craft beer, and anything Cajun. Having attended cooking classes in New Orleans, he was, indeed, a great cook of southern cuisine. Scott was a proud graduate of West Virginia University and held a master’s degree in Organizational Management from Tusculum University. He also achieved the prestigious rank of Six Sigma Black Belt, proving that he could streamline processes with the same enthusiasm he applied to his other passions.
Preceded in death by his father, Wayne Smith; mother, E. Janice (Rodrigues) Smith; grandparents, Joe and Evelyn Rodrigues; and uncle, Joe Rodrigues.
Scott is survived by his sister, Lori Smith, and her husband, Tim Lynn, both of Glen Dale, as well as his step-mother, Carol Smith of Wheeling.
At Scott’s request, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, laughs will be had, and perhaps a few heavy metal tunes will be played in his honor. Until then, raise a glass of craft beer, crank up the volume, and remember Scott Wayne Smith — a man who lived life loudly and loved deeply.
In Lieu of flowers or donations, memorial contributions can be made to the Marshall County Animal Shelter, 37 Animal Shelter Drive, Moundsville WV 26041.
