EILEEN McCORMACK

Eileen May (McGinley) McCormack, 75, of Wheeling, died Saturday, May 3, 2025, following a brief illness.

Eileen made friends everywhere with a quick smile and deft sense of humor. Quick to chat with strangers, she turned ears standing in craft store lines and in hospital waiting rooms. She spent over forty years as a professor and was often greeted with fond remembrances from former students she encountered around the Ohio Valley. An avid hobby crafter, she sold her creations every year without fail at the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival. In her later years, Eileen cherished lunches with her book club friends (“the ladies”, as she called them) and loved recounting humorous tales about her children and grandchildren.

Eileen is survived by her beloved husband, Robert D. McCormack; sons, Ryan S. (Lyndsey) McCormack, Patrick B. (Holly) McCormack, and Benjamin D. (Kirsten) McCormack; granddaughters, Mia, Sophia, Harper, and Maelyn; brother, James S. McGinley, III; sister, Susan M. (James Michael) Salling; and many other friends and loved ones. She was predeceased by her parents, Imogene (Sawyer) McGinley and James S. McGinley, Jr. and a brother, Michael McGinley.

Friends will be received on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 5-7pm and again Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 9am until the time of service at 10am, at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St. Wheeling (304-242-2311). Interment to follow at Park View Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen’s honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
