NANCY SCHUBERT
Nancy Louise Schubert passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 88 at Wheeling Hospital – WVU. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grand mother, she leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth.
She was born in McMechen on August 10, 1936, a daughter of the late Robert and Virginia (Morningstar) Meyers. Nancy was a faithful and devout member of Benwood-McMechen United Methodist Church. She was a cook at Center McMechen Elementary School before becoming a Nursing Assistant at Wheeling Hospital, where she retired after many years of service. An avid reader, Nancy found joy and solace in the written word. She also enjoyed the art of crochet, creating beautiful pieces that warmed the hearts and homes of many. Above everything, Nancy loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Schubert; a daughter, Patricia Novick; a grandson, Justin Schubert and her sister, Peggy Pavelka.
Nancy is survived by four children, Carol (Joe) Marcinek of McMechen, Bob (Paula) Schubert of Glen Dale, Jamie (Tonya Tribett) Schubert of McMechen and Scott Schubert of Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Mary Catherine LaRoy.
Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of being part of her life.
Family and friends will be received Monday, June 2, 2025 from 4-8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 214 Marshall St., McMechen, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3, at 10 am with Pastor Shannon Blosser officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
