William B. Merinar Jr., 90, of Wheeling, WV, formerly of Parkersburg, WV, died May 31, 2025 at Liza's Place.
He was born August 25, 1934, in Glen Dale, WV, to the late William B. and Ruth T. Merinar.
He was a graduate of Triadelphia High School in Wheeling and West Virginia University in Morgantown. Bill served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army as a member of the Third Armored Division of the Artillery Field. He graduated from Artillery Officer Candidate School, Fort Sill, OK and the Artillery and General Missile School.
He married Peggy Davis on July 23, 1960, moved to Indianapolis, IN, where he worked for the Ford Motor Company. In 1965, they moved to Parkersburg where he worked for the Ames Company as Plant Manager. He retired from Ames in 1996 after 31 years of service.
Bill was an avid golfer and over his lifetime had five holes-in-one. He loved to read, hunt, fish and hike the trails. He was a member of the Alpha Rho Chapter 7, Kappa Alpha Fraternity and belongs to the First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Davis Merinar; brothers, Richard W. (Nancy L.) Merinar and John R. Merinar; and several sisters and brothers-in- law.
He is survived by a brother, David L. (Carolyn) Merinar of Suffolk, VA; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 11 AM until the time of service at 1 PM with Rev. Erica Harley officiating at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242- 2311).
Interment to follow in Greenwood Ceme- tery, Wheeling.
