DELORES STRAUB

Delores Berneile (Bauman) Straub, 97, of Sardis, OH, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, as she was surrounded by her loving family.

Delores was born July 31, 1927, in Sardis, OH, to the late Fred and Daisy (Rufener) Bauman.

On November 12, 1950, she married the love of her life, Raymond Wesley Straub. They shared 71 wonderful years of marriage together.

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her husband, Ray, and her sisters Marilyn Ensinger, Arlene Winkler, and Janis Miller. Delores was a 1944 graduate of Hannibal High School. Before marriage, Delores worked at Wetzel County hospital as a nurse’s aid. After marriage and returning from California from Ray’s service in the USMC in 1954, they settled in to their farm on Mule Ridge, raising livestock. She dedicated her adult life to being a homemaker, where she enjoyed cooking for family and friends, canning, and gardening. She was well known for her bumper sweet potato crops. She and Ray were faithful members of Zion United Church of Christ.

Delores was many things to many people; a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, neighbor, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. No matter how you knew “Dodie”, you could always count on a smile and her quick wit to make you laugh. You never left her and Ray’s house hungry or without the invitation for a game of cards.

Left to carry on her legacy of love are daughters, Debra Ann (Richard) Kellner and Mona Rae (Doug) Duvall; five grandchildren, Melissa (Matthew) Mansuetto, Jennifer (Mario) Kellner-Muscar, John (Kali) Kellner, Jessica (Jason) Graham, and Erica (Josh) Kernik; great-grandchildren Sydney & Ramsay Mansuetto, Flannery & Nico Muscar, Jase & Dylan Kellner, Olivia & Paislee Graham, and Briggs Kernik. Also, a sister, Janet Straub, of Sardis, OH.

Delores’ family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all her special caregivers-Charity, Susan, Georgia, Carla, Marcia, Brenda, and Linda- for taking exceptional care of both her and Ray over the past 5 years.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third St. New Martinsville, WV, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Terry Pringle officiating. Internment will follow in Zion Memorial Garden with a dinner following at Hilltop Community Center.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Zion United Church of Christ Perpetual Care Fund.
