WILLIAM ABRAHAM
William L. Abraham, age 81, of Paden City, WV, formerly of New Martinsville, WV, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at WVU Medicine Wetzel County Hospital New Martinsville, WV.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lee in 2005 and Bill in 1995.
Bill did his graduate and undergraduate work at the West Virginia University School of Journalism. He was twice elected board chairman of the former New Martinsville Emergency Squad and was a member of the New Martinsville Rotary. He retired from the Wetzel Chronicle Newspaper and from Wetzel County Hospital.
Surviving are his dearest wife, Lynn, who made theirs such a good life and happy home; daughter, Anne Chirico and grandson, Willy of Rochester, New York; several cousins and in-law families; and lifelong friends, Ann Wells Clutter (“Rooney) of Dayton, OH Joseph Bradford (“Brad”) and Paula Wells, of Southport, SC;; and Caryl Barkwill (the late Brooks Barkwill) of New Martinsville, WV. Long-time friends David and Jamie Fitzsimmons Benson, Jana and Mike Turner, Jim and Kim Drain, also a special friend and “MawMaw” to our pets, Flo Durant of Paden City.
At Bill’s request, there will be no visitation, pallbearers, or flowers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 21 Rosary Rd. New Martinsville on Wednesday at 11am with Rev. Fr. Joseph Abraham, VC, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul as celebrant.
Private burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville.
