Alice Marie Golembiewski Harkins, 90 years old, entered eternity on August 4, 2025. Alice was born in Republic, Pennsylvania, on February 8, 1935 to Katheryn and Kasmier Golembiewski. Alice was the last survivor of seven siblings.
Alice received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Waynesboro College and furthered her education by achieving a master's degree in music from West Virginia University. Her professional career involved teaching, performing, playing the organ at church for most of her life, and raising her four children, Mary "Mimi" Henick (husband James) of Norfolk, Virginia, Paul Harkins of Cincinnati, Ohio, Amy Harkins Turner (husband Eric) of Newnan, Georgia, and James Harkins of Roanoke, Virginia. She retired from Wheeling Central Catholic High School in 1990 and spent her retirement enjoying being a grandmother to her 6 grandchildren, 1Lt. Luke Turner (25), Katie Turner (24), Jimmy Henick (16), Danny Henick (15), Bertie Henick (14), and Veronica Henick (10).
Alice was a free spirit. She never met a stranger and made a lasting impression wherever she went. Her lifelong friendships, her love for music and the Arts, her loyalty to Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and her desire to be where "Something is Happening" describe Alice. It'll be hard to replace another soul like her.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan with Rev. Don Daly officiating.
