Dorothy Helen Finsley Patterson Hatfield, 92, of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away at Valley Hospice, Liza's Place Care Center South, on August 12, 2025, after a short illness.
Dorothy was born on June 9, 1933, in Short Creek, West Virginia. On August 12, 1950, she married Frank Patterson, Jr, in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Preceding Dorothy in death was her father William Edgar Finsley, Sr.; mother Mary Estella Hercules Finsley; first husband Frank Patterson, Jr.; second husband, Jack Hatfield; son Walter Patterson; brothers William Edgar Finsley, Jr., Robert Lee Finsley and Donald Norman Finsley.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Debra Patterson Ashbrook (Mel) of Cross Lanes; granddaughters Heather Ashbrook Pennington (Ryan) of Cross Lanes and Heidi Ashbrook Edwards (Steven) of Dunbar; great-grandchildren, David Lester, Haley Edwards, Jarrett Edwards and Alyson Pennington & three great-great-grandchildren.
A fervent believer in Christ as Lord and Savior, Dorothy rested easy over the last several days as she knew her place in God's Heavenly Kingdom. She will be missed by many friends and relatives.
