On Monday, August 25, 2025, Mary Kathryn Neehouse peacefully passed surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of Neil and Margaret Crow of Moundsville.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Ray Neehouse; her daughters, Jeannie (Bryan) Drake and Lisa (Jayson) Summers; her beloved grandchildren; her siblings, Ruthie Crow and Alan (Brenda) Crow; nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
When you think of Mary's life story, three words come to mind: Teacher, Writer, and Mee-Maw/Gigi, as her grandchildren called her.
Mary devoted her life to education and frequently referred to her teaching career as her calling, where she happily gave her time to her students at Sand Hill Elementary and Sherrard Elementary. Mary taught, impressively, two grades simultaneously. She was often found several weeks before school started to decorate her classroom, so each student felt welcome each year. She was also an active member in the Sand Hill community too, never passed a car that she did not wave to, and was active in the Sand Hill PTA. She also loved being the Sand Hill Christmas play writer and giving out gifts to elementary school graduates each year.
Mary also recalls great memories of growing up working at the C.K. Darwish Meats and Groceries store.
Mary was a faithful member of Fairview Church, where she was the pianist (following in her mother's footsteps), secretary of the board, and VBS puppet script writer and teacher. She also took lay leader classes and previously directed the choir.
In addition, she spent many of years being an involved parent and served as the Limestone PTA president and Fairview Achievers 4-H Leader. She was also a proud member of WVEA, Homemakers, Farm Bureau, and Marshall County Co-op Women's Committee.
Mary was famous for writing "Life on the Funny Farm" stories to make friends and family laugh. She enjoyed reading, painting, ceramics, crafts, and making noodles! Her favorite pastime though was spending time with her grandchildren, and she prided herself on never missing an event, big or small. And she always got the last word with "I love you, more!"
Friends and Family will be received Thursday, August 28, 2025 From 1:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM at Fairview United Methodist Church, 1484 Waynesburg Pike Moundsville, WV 26041 with Rev. Don Rush. Interment at Fairview Cemetery will immediately follow the service.
