Mellissa Jo Clegg, age 48, of New Martinsville, West Virginia went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. after a courageous over 9 year battle with breast cancer. She passed peacefully at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, WV surrounded by loved ones.
She was born May 3, 1977, at Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville, WV, the daughter of Larry and JoAnn (Goudy) Thomas of New Martinsville, WV.
She graduated from Magnolia High school in 1995 and went on to graduate from West Liberty State College in 1998 with a degree in dental hygiene.
She was a retired dental hygienist who practiced with Dr. Ric Zambito of Wheeling, WV and Dr. Jay Cunningham of New Martinsville, WV. She loved her job and her many patients.
Mellissa was a member of the First Church of God in Duffy, Ohio. She was very strong in her faith and her love of the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her significant other of over ten years, Dimarcus Boswell Jr.; two sons, Carter Clegg and Drew Clegg both of New Martinsville; one daughter, Abigail Clegg also of New Martinsville; one brother, Larry “Jay” (Misty) Thomas of New Martinsville; one niece, Bethany Thomas; several aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and her fur baby Chappelle.
A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mellissa’s honor to WVU Cancer Institute at Reynold’s Memorial Hospital, 800 Wheeling, Ave., Glen Dale, WV 26038.
