BARBARA WALLACE

Barbara Ann (Crutchfield) Wallace, born on July 23, 1937, in Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully in her hometown on September 9, 2025, at the age of 88.

Barbara was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent many years serving her community as an Instrument Technician at Ohio Valley Medical Center, from which she retired. Her commitment to her faith and community extended beyond her professional life; she was an active member of the Emmanuel Tabernacle Church in Martins Ferry, Ohio, where she served as a Deaconess, Trustee, and Assistant Pastor. Her devotion to her church and its members was evident in all she did., Barbara was also known for her cooking, which she sold to the people in her community and was the cook for her church.

Preceded in death by her beloved son, Julius Wallace Jr.; her parents, Ora Martel (Meggison) Crutchfield and William N. Crutchfield; her sisters, Easter Pitts, Elsie Ledford, Felton Williams, Christine Moore, Delores Parker, and Mildred Lucas; her brothers, Samuel Brim, Nathaniel Crutchfield, Doldridge Harrison, and Chester Crutchfield; and her grandson, Aarich Michael Wallace, Barbara is now reunited with those she cherished.

She leaves behind to honor her memory her daughters, Arletta Wallace and Leanora Wallace, both of Wheeling; her son, Michael Wallace of Wheeling; step-daughter, Jessica Washington of Wheeling. 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grand children; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara also leaves behind dear friends Anita Wells, Carolyn Kinney, and Connie Fidler, all of Wheeling, who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends will gather to pay their respects on Sunday, September 14, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home, located at 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 15 at 11am at Emmanuel Tabernacle Church, 401 Broad Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, with Bishop Eric Richardson officiating the service and John Pitts Eulogizing Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.

Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering faith, love for her family, and dedication to her community. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
