CAROL STEELE

Carol A. Steele, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Wheeling, WV, on September 18, 2025, at the age of 81, after a long illness.
Born on December 9, 1943, in Martins Ferry, OH, Carol dedicated her life to caring for others, both in her professional career and personal life.
Carol was a graduate of the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing, where she honed her skills and compassion as a registered nurse. Her dedication to nursing was not just a profession but a calling, and she touched countless lives with her kindness and expertise. Her interests extended beyond her work; she found joy in reading, gardening, and serving her community through her active participation in St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, August and Anna Belle (Childers) Arcishewsky, and her brother, Bryan Arcishewsky. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Bob Steele, who stood by her side through all of life’s challenges and triumphs. She leaves behind her cherished son, Michael Steele, four grandchildren, and three great- grandchildren, who will carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Carol is also survived by her sister, Diane (Jay) Tazar, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A funeral service to honor Carol’s life will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV, officiated by Rev. Timothy Crummitt. The service will include the Nightingale Service, a tribute to her lifelong dedication to nursing. Inurnment will follow at Holly Memorial Garden, Colerain, Ohio.
