Mary Lee Persinger, 83, of Proctor, West Virginia, peacefully passed away on September 7, 2025.
Born on June 19, 1942, in Moundsville, West Virginia, she was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose life was a testament to devotion, resilience and love.
A member of the Graysville United Methodist church, Mary Lee dedicated her life to her family and their farm, where she worked as a homemaker with unwavering commitment. She cherished time with her family, nurturing her gardens and caring for her animals. Her love for the outdoors brought her joy in the simplest pleasures of life. Together with her beloved husband of 65 years, Lionel Lemoyne Persinger, whom she married on September 3, 1960, a marriage filled with love and partnership, earned them the prestigious title of "Farm of the Year" twice in Marshall County. Their dedication to farming was a true testament to their hard work and shared passion.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mabel (Hopkins) Marshall, and a dear family friend, Robert Thomas Barr. She is survived by her devoted husband, Lionel; her loving children, Samuel (Kimberly) Persinger and Mary Beth (Kevin) Chaplin; her treasured grandchildren, Levi (Brittany) Persinger, Marshall (Jenna) Eckelberry, and Aaron (Kerry) Rine; her sister, Wila Mae (Bobby) McAnally; and a host of step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, WV 26041, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Services will be officiated by Rev. Mary Ann Nolte, with interment to follow at Graysville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
