PATRICIA “PATT” HANNA

Our beloved mother Patricia “Patt” Hanna, 94, of New Martinsville West Virginia passed away peacefully in her home September 28th surrounded by her family.

Known affectionately as “Miss P” by her family, was born February 14, 1931 to Frank E. Barth and Blanche B. (Powell) Barth in New Martinsville both who proceeded her in death. She grew up along the banks of the Ohio River with her two sisters and two brothers.

Patt was an animal lover her entire life owning several pets over the years including a pony she had as a child named Black Beauty. She rescued several dogs over the last decade and gave them wonderful lives making them her constant companions. Her love of animals was evident as she worked for years as a veterinarian assistant at the Valley Animal Clinic in New Martinsville.

Mom graduated from Magnolia High School where she was a band majorette along with her sisters. After graduation she met and married Donald C. (Don) Hanna and they began their life together. They were married for 63 years and lived their entire life in New Martinsville while raising their three sons Steve, David and Joe.

Patt was a good artist often painting landscapes by watercolor and oil. Her house was full of paintings that her family will cherish forever. She also loved working with ceramics.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Donald C. Hanna, her brothers Raymond Barth (Martha), Dale Barth (Betty) sisters Jane Nancarrow (Chuck) and Norma Jean Barth.

She is survived by her three sons. Steve Hanna of Wadsworth Ohio. David Hanna (Jodi) of Williamsburg Virginia. Joe Hanna (Penny) of New Martinsville WV. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren Leslie King (Chris) of Wadsworth Ohio, Jeff Hanna (Lauren) of Denver Colorado, Ashley Hanna Brooklyn New York, Jordan Hanna (Walter Gray) Richmond Virginia, Tyler Hanna (Tiffani Stinespring) of North Charleston South Carolina, Alexajo Webster (JT) of Morganton West Virginia, and Tanner Hanna (Falilatu) also of Morgantown West Virginia. Surviving also are Pam Hanna and Chaz Nancarrow both whom mom loved dearly.

Patt is survived as well by six great grandchildren. Olivia King, Sydney King, Victoria King, Guy Hanna, Vaughn Hanna and Oaklee Webster.

The family would like to thank all those who came by to visit mom regularly – mom was blessed with great friends. We would like to particularly acknowledge and thank Donna Tedrow who was a wonderful comfort to all of the Hanna family and mom during her life particularly the last several years.

In accordance with mom’s wishes she will be cremated to then rest eternally alongside her husband Donald.

A memorial service will be held on October 5th at 3 pm at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church 196 N. State Route 2 in New Martinsville. In lieu of flowers mom asked for donations be made to the Good Shepard Church.
