PATRICIA YOUNG

Patricia “Patty” J. (Proudfit) Young, aged 76, of Moundsville, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, in Barnesville, OH.

Born on March 15, 1949, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the beloved daughter of the late Loraine and Donald Proudfit.

Patricia dedicated her career to dental health, retiring as a respected Dental Hygienist. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from West Liberty, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to care and service. Her meticulous attention to detail extended beyond her professional life into her personal passions, particularly crafting and sewing, where she found joy and expression.

A woman of faith, Patricia was a former member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Moundsville, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to her community with grace and kindness.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 16 years, Mike Young of Moundsville. Patricia leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Katey Harbert and her husband Brant of Moundsville, and Donald Younger and his wife Teresa Moore of Wheeling. She is also survived by her cherished step-daughters, Heather Kozik and her husband Jim of Wheeling, Danielle Black of New York City, and Kimberly Sprouse of Lakeland, FL.

Patricia’s memory will be carried on by her sister, Lynne Chauvet and her husband Mark, along with her five adored grandchildren: Kaleb Younger, Alexander Harbert, Reagan Sprouse, Rylan Sprouse, and Brady Black. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth and generosity.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Kirby & Lutes Chapels, located at 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville. Pastor Rodney Hubbs will officiate the services, celebrating Patricia’s life and legacy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Altmeyer Funeral Home, Moundsville. Patricia will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
