Tim D. McNinch, 81, passed away peacefully, Friday Sept. 5, 2025, at Hillcrest Hospital surrounded by his family.

Tim was born Oct. 27, 1943, in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of the late Howard and Alta Winters McNinch. He grew up in Wheeling and moved to the Youngstown area in 1970.

He attended West Liberty College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Tim worked in computer security for Packard Electric in Warren, later EDS, for 25 years before retiring in the late 1990s.

Mr. McNinch was a member of Sand Hill United Methodist Church in Wheeling. He was also an active cattle farmer and a true outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Known for his humor and quick wit, Tim enjoyed spinning tall tales — some of which were true — and watching his favorite westerns. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family.

Tim is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joann Arriola McNinch, whom he married March 19, 1994; his three children, Michael McNinch of Poland, Mindy McNinch of Wheeling and Monica McNinch of Mineral Ridge; two grandchildren, Connor McNinch and Autumn Smith; and several extended family members, including his cousin, Chad Glauser.

His brothers, Dale, Neal and Les McNinch; his sister, Virginia Guy; and a cousin, Bob Glauser are deceased.

Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV 26003. (304-242-2311). A graveside service will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Wheeling at 12:30 p.m.

Though he made his home in Ohio, Tim’s heart always carried a piece of the hills of West Virginia. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose love of the outdoors, sense of humor and gift for storytelling brought joy to all who knew him.
