EVELYN SCOTT

Evelyn June Tennant Scott, 96, of New Martinsville, WV formerly of Reader, WV died Sunday, September 28, 2025 while at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, WV.

Evelyn was born July 3, 1929, in Reader, WV daughter of the late Vernon and Leah Madge (Brown) Yoho.

She was a retired school bus driver for Wetzel County Schools. In addition to driving a school bus she worked very hard at the family business Tennant’s Gulf and Grocery Store which was located in Reader. She went to work at the age of fourteen as a nurse’s aide at Wetzel County Hospital. Even though she enjoyed gardening, dancing, traveling, Happy Hour on Friday nights and going to the beach, her life’s passion was cleaning! Yes, cleaning! The love for her grandchildren was never ending. She was famous for her homemade hotdog sauce and homemade apple sauce. She enjoyed watching football and basketball.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Troy Tennant; her second husband, William Scott and daughter, Mary Beth Tennant Bates Tallman.

Surviving are her two sons, Stephen “Steve” (Kay) Tennant of New Martinsville, WV and Scott (Angi) Tennant of Somerset, PA; two daughters, Kathy (Bill) Liposchak of Windsor Heights, WV and Lisa (Tom) Shepherd of New Martinsville, WV; twelve grandchildren, Kale (Mary) Fluharty, Sara Beth Tennant, Nicole (Ron) Anderson, Sheena (Mike) Keating, Kerry Tennant, Nicholas Tennant, Brandon (Casey) Tennant, Taylor (Kate) Shepherd, Caitlyn Tallman, Sam (Karen) Shepherd, Erica Riegel and Heather Liposchak; great grandchildren, Grace, Graham and Hudson Fluharty, CJ Anderson, Julia Tallman, Declan, Nolan, Kylie and Mackenzie Keating, Lily, Blake and Cameron Tennant and Page and Adrian Shepherd; two sisters, Ruth Ann (Dan) Henderson of Reader, WV and Linda Lou (Butch) Neff of New Martinsville, WV and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Paden Memorial Garden in Paden City, WV.
